Chief Bill Mund

Chief Mund began his career in the fire service in 1983 with the St. Cloud Fire Department.  He was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in 1989.  He served on the department’s Hazardous Materials Team and was President of IAFF Local 1712 from 1988 to 1995.  In 1995, he was appointed to the position of Assistant Fire Chief.  In 2003, he was appointed to the position of Chief of Department.  He successfully managed the transition to a combination department in 2006.  The St. Cloud Fire Department currently has 64 full time personnel and 8 paid on call personnel. The Department covers an area of approximately 40.95 square miles and provides fire protection to over 67,000 residents.

 Chief Mund is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program and has served on various committees within The Minnesota State Fire Chief’s Association.  He is currently the Vice Chair of the Statewide Radio Board which is charged with the deployment of a Statewide Interoperable Radio System.

 Chief Mund was appointed as the Minnesota State Fire Chief’s Representative to the Great Lakes Board in June of 2007 and was sworn in at FRI 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia.
