Chief John Baus

Chief Baus began his career in 1980 with the Hartford Volunteer Fire Department.  In 1986 he was hired as a full time fire fighter with the City of Two Rivers Fire Department.  In Two Rivers he served as a fire fighter / paramedic, lieutenant, and assistant chief.  In 2005 he was hired as the chief of the Menomonie Fire Department. 

Menomonie is a combination department with 29 full time, and 20 paid on call personnel providing fire protection, EMS, haz-mat, and technical rescue services.  The department covers over 300 square miles of city and rural area serving 36,000 people.  It is home to major industry as well as the University of WI Stout.  He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer program, holds a Master Degree in Public Administration and is Past President of the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs’ Association.
