Deputy Chief John Mayer began his fire
service career with the Village of Hoffman Estates Fire Department in 1987.
During his career he has worked his way from firefighter to Deputy Chief
and has served as both the Deputy Chief of Administration and currently as
Deputy Chief of Operations. He also served as a paid-on call firefighter in the
Village of West Dundee.
Deputy Chief Mayer has a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from
Benedictine University, along with an Associates Degree in Fire Science
Technology.
He is current member of the Kane County Board of
Commissioners, where he sits on the Public Health and Public Services
Committees. He is also a Kane
County Forest Preserve Commissioner serving on the Planning and Utilization
Committee. Prior to his term on the
County Board, Deputy Chief Mayer served as a West Dundee Village Trustee for ten
years.
Deputy Chief Mayer is a past Executive Board member for IAFF
Local 2061 and has been a member of the IAFC since 2003.
