Skeldon
Chief Skeldon began his career in
the fire service in 1978 as a volunteer with his hometown department in West
Jefferson, Ohio. He was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in 1984 with the added
assignment of training officer.
Chief
Skeldon started his professional career with the Norwich Township FD in Hilliard
Ohio in 1985 serving in various leadership positions including 2 terms as Vice
President of IAFF Local 1723.
In the early
1990’s Chief Skeldon assisted in the formation and development of a new fire
department in Jerome Township, Union County Ohio. Being appointed as the
department’s first Part-time Assistant Chief in 1992 and appointed as the
department’s first Full-Time Fire Chief in December of 1999.
Chief
Skeldon has served on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Fire Chiefs
Association for the past 8 years and served as President of the Association in
2005-2006. He continues to serve on various committees within The Ohio Fire
Chiefs Association.
Chief
Skeldon currently represents the OFCA on the Ohio Statewide Interoperability
Executive Committee (SIEC) the 700 MHz Planning Committee, the Ohio Homeland
Security Interoperability Advisory Committee and the FEMA Region 5
Interoperability working group.
Chief
Skeldon was appointed as the Ohio State Fire Chief’s Representative to the Great
Lakes Board in July of 2007 and was sworn in at FRI 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia.
