FIRE CHIEF - NEW BERLIN, WI (39,000).  The City of New Berlin, Wisconsin seeks a Fire Chief to manage the provision of fire and paramedic services in support of the City’s mission. 

 

Responsibilities include the management and administration of the City’s Fire Department, including all departmental operations, public safety initiatives, financial management, and staff supervision.   Manages a staff of 24 FT and 60 PT positions, reports directly to the Mayor, and serves as a member of the City’s department head team.  The incumbent exercises ultimate responsibility and authority for managerial and administrative work in planning, organizing and directing the programs and services of the City of New Berlin Fire Department.  Appointed by the Police and Fire Commission with appointment terms confirmed by the Mayor and Common Council.  Successful applicants will possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with substantial municipal fire service management experience working with a community of similar demographics and complexity.  Master’s Degree preferred.   Must have significant supervisory experience and relevant experience in budget, planning, and administration.  Strong leadership and communication skills required.  2010 annual salary is $89,492.43-$102,277.06 with excellent benefits package.  Appointment rate DOQ.  Detailed information and application materials regarding this position are available on the website www.newberlin.org/hr, or by contacting the Human Resources Department.  Qualified candidates must submit application materials by July 23, 2010 to:
